Rick Sederholt, CEC, AAC, General Manager/Executive Chef

As Executive Chef of The Scottsdale Plaza, a five diamond, five star resort, Rick Sederholt oversaw three different kitchens including the banquet kitchen, the Garden Court Restaurant and the resort’s highly acclaimed specialty restaurant, Remington’s. Rick began his career at Adam’s Son Restaurant in New York City, noted for its French nouvelle cuisine, where he worked his way up from the bottom to become sous chef. He went on to garner experience on the staff of some of the most famous establishments in New York including the Waldorf Astoria, Regines and Christos Restaurant. Over his 19 years at the hotel, he was instrumental in enhancing the menus of the resort’s two restaurants, while guiding the evolution of Remington’s unique culinary melange that combines the flavors of a variety of regional American cuisine. The Greater Phoenix Chefs Association has repeatedly recognized Rick’s special skills, most notably as "Culinarian of the Year" and "Chef of the Year." Other awards include the "Chef’s Choice Award" in the Mayor’s Cup Appetizer competition at the Scottsdale Culinary Festival and "Chef of the Month" by Restaurateur of Arizona magazine. Rick has been actively involved in the local community including volunteering at the Cystic Fibrosis Summer Youth Camp and conducting tours at The Plaza for culinary students at Scottsdale Community College. His numerous appearances on cooking shows and radio culinary programming made him a regular on the Phoenix airwaves. He has also been active in the American Culinary Federation since 1989, serving as treasurer and on the board of directors, and is a member of the prestigious Les Toques Blanches, the international brotherhood of chefs.

Maribeth Steffen, Director of Marketing & Membership Services

Maribeth Steffen is the Director of Marketing and Membership Services for The State Club, where she is responsible for all aspects of membership, marketing and public relations. Prior to joining the State Club, Maribeth was an Event Coordinator for S&R Communications Inc., where she was responsible for the coordination and implementation of promotional pharmaceutical events throughout the country. Prior to S&R, Maribeth volunteered for a non–profit organization in eastern North Carolina where she implemented public relations strategies and event planning. Maribeth received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a Concentration in Public Relations from East Carolina University in 2004.

Wendy Dorman, Banquet Director

A Raleigh native, Wendy Dorman is Banquet Director of The State Club, where she is responsible for reservations, menu development, staffing and all areas of event planning. Prior to joining The State Club, Wendy served as the Assistant Social Director at Carolina Country Club where she was in charge of all aspects of event planning and financing. Wendy obtained her bachelors degree from East Carolina University with a degree in Interior Design and a minor in Business. When she is not busy facilitating banquets and other events, she likes to spend time at home with her six horses. Wendy and her husband Chuck, reside in Clinton.

Janette Krier, Director of Administration

Janette Krier is Director of Administration of The State Club, where she is responsible for providing administrative support to the Chief Operating Officer as well as assisting the accounting and personnel department. Janette is also responsible for reservations for the Club, for the processing of new memberships, and serves as Recording Secretary for the Board of Directors. Prior to joining The State Club, Janette served as the Business Manager of a private, non–profit foundation in Cary where she managed the day–to–day operations. Additionally, she has thirty years experience in administrative support and management with corporations such as ITT North America, United Resources, Atlantic States Bankcard Association, and the Wake County Board of Education to name a few. Janette is active in her church, enjoys traveling, and spending time with her new grandson. She and her husband, Mark, reside in Raleigh.
